According to the cornista Pedro de la Cieza, the archaeological center of Huchuy Qusqo dates between the year 1000 and 1400 AD. Huchuy Qosqo, also known as “little Cusco”, is located at an altitude of 3,650 meters above sea level (11,980 feet), with an impressive view of the Sacred Valley 3 kilometers above the city of Lamay. It was formerly known as Caquia Xaquixaguana or kakya Qawani, as it was known to the Incas. It is said to have been owned by the Inca emperor Viracocha in the 1420s.
